The World Buddha Foundation was formed
and founded at the premises of Burmese Monasteries under the
Chairmanship of Ven. Bhikshu Dr. Dhammawansa on 22nd May 1976
at Bodhgaya, Bihar. The presence and with the blessing of the venerable
Monks of the Buddhist Monasteries of Burma, Srilanka, Thailand, Japan,
Tibet, Bhutan, Bangledesh, China, Taiwan, Korea, Mongolia, Vietnam,
Nagpur, Darjeeling, Sikkim, Nepal, Tai Bodhikham, International
Meditation Centre, Chakma Buddhist Monastry (Chittagaon) and Buddha Gaya
Maha Bihar Main Temple of Lord Buddha.
The Foundation
was duly registered by the Registrar of Ranchi on 26th
September 1978 under Indian Trust Act. 1882 vide Registration No.
IV-217-78 for the following objectives and purpose: |
Preamble
It is and will
remain purely a non-profitable, philanthropic, charitable, academic,
social, religious and autonomous organization of the people of Buddhist
Faith, dedicated to the cause of Buddhism, for promotion and propagation
of culture, philosophy and teaching of Lord Buddha in the world.

Objectives in Brief
To achieve the said desire the Founder
frames the following ways and means to use and execute the Foundation in
the cause and also dedicate the Foundation to the following objective:-

It shall be purely charitable, philanthropic, academic,
cultural and religious organization of the people of Buddhist faith to
serve. volunteer and help the people in distress, sufferers (of any
type including natural calamities, riots and wars), handicapped,
socially, educationally and economically-backward, sick and needy etc.
without making any reservation, demarcation of any nature in the
world.

It will
establish undertake, maintain, open and run centers to develop
awareness in the members and the people towards the values and feeling
of other people, living in any part of the world. It will also work
for the welfare and upliftment of the Members and the people of
Buddhist faith who may belong to any country.

It will
build, establish, undertake, maintain, open and run educational
institutions, technical institutions, hospitals, adult education
centers, dispensaries retiring centers, prayer halls, temples for the
people of Buddhist faith and homes for homeless, sufferers, socially
dropped out, deserted, unwanted-children, handicapped, aged, Bhikhus,
Bhikhunies and devotees etc in the world.

It will
build, establish, undertake, maintain, open and run such industrial
and manufacturing units where sufferers, handicapped, deserted,
socially dropped outs, economically backward, unwanted and orphan
children and aged can work without being a burden on others. However,
these units will never run with the motive to earn profit but will run
for the moral satisfaction of these people and savings if any comes
from these units the same will go to the Foundation fund for extension
of services further.

It will do
and take-up such work, programmes or to convene meetings, seminars,
conferences etc by which peace and awareness in the world can be
brought and maintained.

It will
organize and run programmes which will inculcate the habit of
restraint, adjustment, peaceful co-existence living, tolerance,
non-violence, brotherhood feelings among the Members and the people of
the world.

It will train
and prepare the devotees and volunteers so that they could go in the
vast field of the world to make the people acquainted with the
teachings, philosophy and the way of living of Lord Buddha.

It will seek
and accept donations, grants, offerings, voluntary services of the
devotees Members, subscription contribution and may seek and negotiate
to get loan from the financial institutions, banks, individuals and
deal with the same for the objectives and programmes of the
Foundation.

It will
invest, own, possess, dispose off, transfer, enter into agreement,
contract and otherwise deal with the regular business subject matter,
funds, resources, assets of the Foundation in such manner as the Board
of Trustees will deem fit and proper in running and managing the
affairs of the Foundation.

It will
undertake and organize other programmes supplementary to the
objectives of the Foundation or as decided by the Board of Trustees.

It will
constitute, observe and follow its own Constitution and Bye-laws
framed or to be framed by the Board of Trustees time to time for
managing and executing its policy, programme and administration for
smooth running and functioning of all the establishments and units of
the Foundation.

Where
constitution and Bye-laws of the Foundation will be found exhausted
the Indian Trusts Act-1882 will be referred for any legal and
practical guidance or the opinion of the District Judge of Gaya or
Ranchi may be seeked

That in case of retirement, resignation,
death or removal for any reason of any of above Trustees aforesaid, the
vacancy will be filled up by nomination to be made by the Founder till
his life time and after his death by nomination/ invitation as per
descion of all the remaining Trustees to keep and maintain seven
Trustees in all.
The Board of Trustees shall have the power to Frame the Bye-laws for
internal administration of the Foundation, its institutions, programmes,
projects etc. and can do amendments, addition therein as per need, time
to time, for smooth working and running of the Foundation.
The Foundation has experience of establishing and running educational
institutions for more than 25 years. The Foundation is having the
privilege of being exempted from Income Tax under section 12A and having
Permanent Account Number. Its Institutions are protected under Article
30 of the Constitution of India. The Foundation is recognized and
certified as a Buddhist religious Minority organization by the Minority
Commission of Jharkhand State. |
